Once drywall goes up, everything behind it becomes invisible. Where the plumbing runs, how the electrical was routed, where the structural elements sit, what clearances exist for future work. A progress capture creates a 3D scan of the building at a specific point in construction, preserving a navigable record of concealed conditions your team can reference for years.
This is especially valuable for MEP coordination, construction administration, and future maintenance. When a question comes up about what is behind a specific wall, the answer is in the scan.
When to capture
Before drywall
The most common milestone. Capture framing, rough plumbing, electrical, and HVAC before they are concealed. This is the single most valuable capture point for most projects.
At structural milestones
After steel erection, after concrete pours, or after major structural modifications. Document the structure as built before it is enclosed.
At project completion
A final scan creates a comprehensive record of the finished space. Useful for facility management, owner handoff, and as-built documentation of the completed project.
How progress captures work
A progress capture uses the same Matterport scanning process as our as-built documentation. Our technician visits the site, captures the space in its current state, and delivers a shareable 3D walkthrough with measurements. The visit typically takes 1 to 3 hours depending on the area being captured.
Progress captures are an add-on that starts at $300 per visit. They are priced based on the square footage being captured: under 3,000 square feet is $200, 3,001 to 6,000 square feet is $275, and 6,001 square feet and above is $350. Multiple visits can be scheduled across the project timeline.
Frequently asked questions
Most projects benefit from one to three captures at key milestones. The most common single capture is before drywall, documenting MEP rough-ins. Larger or more complex projects may add captures at structural milestones and at project completion.
Yes. The 3D walkthrough lets project managers, architects, and owners review construction progress remotely. You can pull measurements, verify conditions, and compare against plans without scheduling a site visit.
